Weight Gain In Pregnancy Linked To Overweight In Kids

Pregnant women who gain excessive or even appropriate weight, according to current guidelines, are four times more likely than women who gain inadequate weight to have a baby who becomes overweight in early childhood. These findings are from a new study at the Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention of Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and are published in the April issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Fewer Children And Teens Received Antidepressants Following FDA Warnings

Amphetamine And Cocaine Usage Increase Risk Of Stroke Among Young Adults

Increasing rates of amphetamine and cocaine usage by young adults significantly boost their risk of stroke, with amphetamine abuse associated with the greatest risk, researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center report.In the study, available online in the Archives of General Psychiatry, UT Southwestern physicians examined more than 8,300 stroke patients - ranging in age from 18 to 44 - at more than 500 Texas hospitals in the years 2000 through 2003.
